The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is the first local authority to sign up to VU.CITY, our 3D interactive model of London, now covering more than 1,617 sq km of the capital.
Barking and Dagenham is using VU.CITY as a planning tool for the whole borough. With some 35,000 homes planned for the area, with 5,000 in the next decade alone, the Council recognises that change on this scale brings with it many challenges.
They are currently using VU.CITY within Barking town centre, showcasing the development opportunities to investors and developers alike. Barking and Dagenham’s vision is that all future developments will go into the VU.CITY model, creating a valuable tool that visualises proposed schemes in the context of the existing built environment and what has been consented.
‘The app has already proved valuable. It has shown investors and developers that we are serious and have a lot of proposals coming forward. It is bringing town planning to life for the public at consultation events.’David Harley, Group Manager of Physical Regeneration and Economic Development, Growth and Homes
