How to verify the accuracy of a 3D model
When you receive a 3D model in support of a planning application, it’s important to be able to verify the accuracy of that model. There are several tools you can use to compare the two:
– Utilise the Screenshot Tool when viewing the building from a plan view (top-down) and compare this to the building footprint in the application;
– Use the AOD Tool to check that the maximum elevation height matches the figures given in the elevation drawings;
– Use the A–B Tool to check the building height by clicking the cursor at ground level for point A, and the top of the building for point B. Note the two points must be vertically aligned to give an accurate measurement.
